The Cambria County Old Stone Jail, established in 1872, was built to house the county's most dangerous criminals away from the public eye. Designed with towering 70-foot structures and containing over 80 cells, the facility was divided into male and female housing units, holding individuals convicted of some of the most violent crimes of the time.
One of the most infamous cases was that of Michael "Mickey" Smith, who mysteriously vanished from his locked cell in 1884, just one month before his scheduled execution. Rumors persist that Mickey was secretly taken to the dungeon, where he was brutally beaten and killed. Today, the Old Stone Jail stands as a grim reminder of the past—a place shrouded in mystery, cruelty, and whispered tales of torment.

In the quiet town of Ebensburg, Pennsylvania lies the Cambria County Old Stone Jail, also known as the Cambria County Jail. The location recently opened to the public for paranormal investigations. The Cambria County Old Stone Jail has a history of criminal acts, public hangings, abusive dungeons, and mysterious disappearances. Prisoners and guards at the time claimed to have heard running in the halls and see dark shadows and apparitions lurking within the cell bars. Tonight we experience it all as we capture insane visual evidence, poltergeist activity, and incredible communication sessions.

The Dungeon. The jail was built in 1872 and is a Gothic Revival style sandstone building measuring 56 feet wide, 100 feet deep, and 60 feet tall. An addition, (Annex) was built in 1910. The front facade features pointed drop arch windows and a pointed arch portal. The jail is surrounded by a 22 feet tall substantial stone wall. The building also has a tower located at the front entrance. The floors are wooden but have iron that lays below. The building also contains a lower and upper floor with cells on each floor.

Michael "Mickey" Smith convicted in 1884 of killing a man from Johnstown. But after rumored to leaving a farewell letter to the warden, he managed to escape without a trace. The officers found that it was impossible to escape, because the walls were made of concrete and iron and they were about 22 feet high. The warden saw no trace of Mickey. Mickey would have been the fourth execution at the jail. He was never found.
